189,147 files, 2.1 TB scanned, 5,485 in both, real scan

Clear the duplicates,keep every photo.

Buckrr matches files by content, not by name. Every extra copy goes into one folder for you to check, the last copy of each file is locked, and it shows you what your backup is missing.

The Problem

Ten years of photos.A dozen drives. No idea what’s safe.

Every card you dumped onto the desktop for now. Every I’ll sort it later. Every backup you started and abandoned. It all piled up — now your life’s work is scattered across an old laptop, four external drives, and folders named FINAL, FINAL_v2, and import_new.

01 · DUPLICATES EVERYWHERE
The same shot copied five times, under five different names, eating gigabytes you paid for and can’t use.
02 · NO MASTER COPY
You can’t tell which drive holds the originals, which is a half-finished copy, and which you could clear out without losing anything.
03 · THE LOSS
Somewhere in the mess is a photo you can’t lose. You just don’t know if it’s still there.

Deleting feels dangerous. So you keep everything, buy another drive, and the pile grows.

How it works

Four jobs.
One window.

Start with the one job you came for, or run all four on your first drive.

Illustration of the Buckrr window running each of the four jobs.
01 · Analyze Duplicates

Find out what’s actually duplicated.

Point it at one folder to find the duplicates inside it. Point it at two, say a drive and its backup, to see what’s in one and missing from the other. Identical files under different names still get caught.

First set only means it’s on the laptop and missing from the backup.

02 · Move Duplicates

Clear out the copies. Never the last one.

Buckrr moves duplicates into a folder called /duplicates for you to review, and you can undo a whole run from the app. The last copy of every file is locked. Empty the folder when you’re happy, and the space is yours.

03 · Copy Unique Files

Copy only what’s missing.

One run builds the complete copy you’ve never had. Buckrr skips every file that already exists at the destination and copies the rest — keep the original folder structure, or flatten everything into a single folder.

04 · Analyze Storage Usage

See where the space went.

Every folder with its file count, size and share of the total. 849.8 GB of folders mapped in 3.5 s, so the folder that ate the drive stops being a mystery.

The Mechanism

Filenames lie. Contents don’t.

Buckrr fingerprints every file by the bytes inside it. Rename it, move it, change the date — the fingerprint stays the same, so two names can still be one photo. Only the contents settle it.

  • Different name, same bytes means a duplicate.
  • Same name, different bytes means two photos, both kept.
Illustration. Two copies of one photo share a fingerprint; a different photo with the same name doesn’t.
Why Buckrr

Built for the drive you’re afraid to open.

Buckrr turns years of scattered copies into one library you can trust, and gives back the space the duplicates were stealing.

01

What stops you: “What if it throws away the only copy I have?”

No files get deleted.

Buckrr sets a file aside only after an identical copy is verified somewhere else — the last copy of anything stays put, and everything it moves lands in a duplicates folder you can review. When it isn’t obvious which copy to keep, Buckrr asks you first. Nothing moves on a guess.

02

What stops you: “I’m not uploading ten years of photos to anyone.”

It runs on your PC.

No upload, no cloud. Your files never leave your PC. Buckrr only goes online to check your licence now and then.

03

What stops you: “I’ve renamed half of these. It’ll never match them up.”

It reads content, not filenames.

That’s the difference between finding some duplicates and finding all of them.

04

What stops you: “I spent three hours sorting and barely scratched the surface.”

It finishes what you start.

983 GB of photos and videos (37,108 files), analysed in 4 min 19.5 s on an NVMe drive. Older drives take longer; Buckrr doesn’t mind. Press start, walk away, come back to review what it found.

Who made this

I built it because I needed it.

I shoot holidays and astrophotography — a hobby that fills a drive faster than anything else you can point a camera at.

  1. 01

    The drive was full

Full even after I’d added 3 TB, plus three external drives. Some photos existed four times over; some drives held the same photo three times — FINAL, FINAL_v2. And some existed exactly once, so if that drive died, they were gone.

  2. 02

    A bigger box

So I bought a two-drive RAID, 20 TB each. And then I stopped. Copying everything I owned onto it would just move the mess into a bigger box.

  3. 03

    Nothing fit

I went looking for a tool that would find the duplicates and tell me which files existed in only one place. I couldn’t find one that did what I needed.

  4. 04

    A quick script

So I wrote a quick Python script. Work that had taken me an hour and a half took five minutes. Then I turned it into Buckrr. I’m not the only one with drives like that.

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

Will it ever delete my files?

No files are deleted, ever. Buckrr moves duplicates into a folder you can review or restore, and locks the last copy of every file so it can’t be removed. With “Remove empty folders” on, as it is by default, Buckrr also deletes folders a move leaves empty. Restoring a file won’t bring them back. To actually free the space, review the duplicates folder and delete it yourself; nothing is freed until you do.

How fast is it?

Mostly your disk, not the app: NVMe fastest, then SSD, then HDD noticeably slower. Connection matters too. Internal is best, USB 3.0 is fine, USB 2.0 isn’t recommended. On NVMe, Buckrr analysed 983 GB in 4 min 19.5 s.

Do my files ever leave my PC?

No. Buckrr runs entirely on your PC, with no upload and no cloud. It goes online only to check your licence: at activation, and now and then after that.

What if I rename files or reorganise folders?

Buckrr fingerprints files by their content, not their name or location. Renamed, moved or re-dated, the fingerprint doesn’t change, so it still finds the match.

Why not a free duplicate finder?

Most find copies and stop. Buckrr also shows which files your backup is missing, copies just those across, and never lets you remove the last copy.

What if I don’t like it?

Ask for a refund within 30 days and you get all of it back. We’ll ask what went wrong afterwards; answering is optional.

What happens after I buy?

You get a download link by email right after checkout. Install Buckrr, click Activate in browser, and approve it in your account. There’s no licence key to copy or lose, and your files stay on your PC.

Can I buy now and install later on my PC?

Yes. Buy here, and the download link arrives by email. Open it on your Windows PC whenever you’re ready, install Buckrr, and approve it in your account.

How many computers can I use it on?

3 on Yearly, 5 on Perpetual. If you switch computers, release the old slot from your account any time. No need to contact support.

Can I upgrade from Yearly to Perpetual?

Yes, whenever you like, for €69. It’s €69 in month 2 or month 12, and Perpetual starts straight away. The rest of your Yearly term isn’t refunded.

What happens if I don’t renew Yearly?

The four tools pause when the licence lapses. Nothing on disk is touched, and files already moved into the duplicates folder stay exactly where they are. Renew, or buy Perpetual, and everything picks back up.

Is there a Mac/Linux version?

Not yet. Buckrr is Windows only for now, Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit.
